James Blackburn, piano, and David Duthie, acoustic bass, have been performing together continuously since 1984. Their music, as well as their partnership, is unique in Portland. One can easily hear their tight piano and bass duo sound that these two pros have developed over the years, which makes them so popular with so many people.

Blackburn & Duthie play the all-time great jazz favorites by such composers as Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Rodgers & Hart, to name a few. Their music is presented in a straight ahead style. Their song treatments are always elegant, sophisticated, and inspired. Theirs is a style of jazz that is timeless.

Blackburn & Duthie are seasoned and polished professionals who have performed in long running nightclub engagements, private gala events, civic celebrations, and public concerts throughout the Northwest and Palm Springs.
